It simply can be summarised with one word...history.
Malaya/Malaysia has never been an independant state ruled by a government before our independance. Indians and Chinese existed in this country before even Merdeka and we could have hardly been considered a minority.
Hence the system we see here is inherited from our colonial days and not because our government allowed it. Our government was formed because they agreed on forming a multi party coalition called the BN.
In other words this country is ours. We all contributed to its independance. You cant really compare this to those European countries can you? Obviously Indians we not involved in the french revolution?!LOL
Once they start saying we are immigrants and put restrictions on our believes and culture...they are already trying to erase the past with their own perverted skew of history.
You see many years ago...while the great grand fathers of people like Mohd Annuar Ismadi, were wearing their sarong and sleeping on the roads, we the non malays worked very hard to make a living having come here. We were mostly succesful and helped make the country a thriving peninsular. We brought it out from what was a backwater state.
It was when these men in sarongs woke up did we have the racial revolution of ketuanan Melayu...the fear that they would loose ownership of this country from 'us' people who were already citizens of this country...how dumb! Because they wanted more time to talk stories and lie around roads they wanted to be subsidised so that they dont loose to the 'foreigners'...
Anyway that same man in the Kampung to this very day has been misinformed and being fed crap to delude their thinking that they have to fight for their right(not trying to quote a beastie boy song) over this invisible enemy.
I know you would like to know why all this has happened...It is simple. But one thing I observed (based on the Hindraf protest memo) is that Indians were brought in as indentured labourers to work the rubber plantations by the British (long long before Independance) just like they brought Indians to Fiji to work as indentured labourers in the sugarcane plantations as a solution to the shortage of labor there. That is why the Hindraf leaders wanted to sue the British Gov't and also the (now famous) protest memo.
On another note, one of the signatories to the Malayan Independance when the British decided to grant Malaya Independance, was the late Tun Sambanthan. So who says Indians have nothing to do regarding Independance? _________________ The only ones who listen to both sides of an arguement are the neighbours!
